180m Container Ship — Crew Galley Renewal

A 180-metre container ship in Izmir for a 7-day scheduled maintenance stop. The crew galley was outdated, inefficient, and increasingly unreliable. The operator wanted the whole thing replaced — cooking, refrigeration, dishwashing — within the maintenance window.

The complication was the vessel's electrical infrastructure. She was running two incompatible systems: 440V/60Hz in the machinery spaces and 220V/50Hz in the hotel areas. Mixing equipment across those circuits without conversion leads to failures, voids warranties, and can damage equipment. We engineered dedicated frequency-conversion and step-down systems for each piece of equipment before any installation work started.

With the electrical groundwork done, the actual galley fit-out went smoothly. Electrolux Professional 900XP combined cooking range, Rational iCombi Pro steam-convection oven, two Foster EP700H vertical refrigerators, a Foster PROG600H freezer, and a Winterhalter PT-L industrial dishwasher. All plumbing was re-routed and a full stainless counter fabrication done in our Istanbul workshop and shipped to Izmir.

The vessel departed on schedule. Twelve months of operation followed without a single service call. Energy consumption across the galley dropped 41%.
