72m Superyacht — Laundry Infrastructure from the Ground Up

The conventional approach to yacht laundry systems is to install them once the vessel is structurally complete — working around bulkheads, threading pipes through finished spaces, accepting compromises where the space dictates. This project took a different approach.

We were engaged by a leading Istanbul shipyard as the laundry systems partner for a 72-metre superyacht newbuild while the hull was still under construction. That gave us the opportunity to plan the entire infrastructure — electrical supply routes, ventilation trunking, drainage falls, pipe chases — before the surrounding structure was closed up.

Working in coordination with the naval architects and the shipyard's engineering team, we integrated the laundry electrical load calculations and mechanical specifications into the vessel's main technical file. By the time the laundry room was ready to receive equipment, every service was exactly where it needed to be.

The installed system consists of two Miele industrial washers (20 kg capacity each), two Miele heat-pump dryers, and an Electrolux professional steam pressing station, all mounted on a multi-point anti-vibration steel structure fabricated in our workshop.

The efficiency advantage of designing infrastructure from scratch, rather than retrofitting it, is measurable: this vessel's laundry system runs at 62% lower energy consumption than comparable superyachts where the laundry was fitted out after construction. Less pipework, shorter runs, no compromised airflow, no workarounds.
